Harnessing your Force: a May reflection

We all have a “force”: a combination of energy, strengths, and inner drivers that shape how we show up in the world.
But unlike in the movies:
👉 it’s not magical
👉 it’s not fixed
👉 it’s something we can get to know, and maybe even learn to work with
The annual celebration of “May the 4th be with you” always brings a smile to my face. There’s something about it - that little moment where imagination and reality blend - that feels playful and oddly meaningful at the same time.
And this year, it got me thinking about the connection between the number 4… and the idea of force.
As a child, I was endlessly curious about the meaning behind things: words, symbols, numbers. And for some reason, the number 4 was always my favorite. I liked its simplicity (you can count it on one hand)… and at the same time, I was fascinated by how much meaning people seemed to attach to it.
Four seasons.
Four directions.
Four elements.
There was something about it that felt… complete. Grounded. Like a quiet kind of structure underneath everything.
But the image that stayed with me the most wasn’t abstract at all.
It was something I once saw: two bracelets, each featuring two dragon heads from Bhutan. Together, four dragon heads.I was told they were said to symbolize harmony, strength, wisdom, and protection.
I remember being completely captivated by them.
And somehow, that image came back to me now.
Because it made me wonder:
✨ What are my own “4s”?
✨ What are the elements that shape my force?
I don’t have a perfect answer, but here’s what I find myself coming back to:
There is something about clarity, having a sense of direction, even if it’s not fully formed.
There is energy: that inner pull towards something, curiosity that wants to be followed.
There is commitment: the things we keep showing up for, even when it’s not easy.
And there are people: the environments, relationships, and spaces that either nourish us… or don’t.
When those things come together, even imperfectly, something shifts.
There is a sense of alignment.
Of being supported and stretched at the same time.
Of moving with something - rather than against it.
Maybe that’s what it means to “harness your force”.
Not something external. But something already there inside us - that we’re learning to understand.
✨ So I’m curious:
What are your “4s”?
What are the elements that shape your force?

In that spirit:
May the 4th be with you.
